Dhealbhaigh Maois nathair chré-umha, agus chuir ar chuaille í, agus nuair a chuireadh nathair cealg i nduine, d’fhéachadh sé ar an nathair chré-umha agus mhaireadh.

6 Ansin sheol Dia nathracha tintí i measc an phobail, agus chuireadar a gcealg sa phobal, agus fuair a lán in Iosrael bás.
7 Tháinig an pobal go Maois agus dúradar: “Pheacaíomar lenár gcaint in aghaidh an Tiarna agus i d’aghaidhse. Guigh chun an Tiarna á iarraidh air na nathracha a thógáil dínn.” Ghuigh Maois ar son an phobail.
8 Dúirt an Tiarna le Maois: “Déan nathair thintí agus cuir ar chuaille í, agus gach duine ina gcuirfear cealg, nuair a fhéachfaidh sé uirthi, mairfidh sé.”
9 Dhealbhaigh Maois nathair chré-umha dá bhrí sin agus chuir ar chuaille í, agus nuair a chuireadh nathair cealg i nduine, d’fhéachadh sé ar an nathair chré-umha agus mhaireadh.
10 Chuir clann Iosrael chun bealaigh agus shuíodar a gcampa in Obot.
11 Ansin chuadar ó Obot agus shuíodar a gcampa in Ívé Abáraím san fhásach taobh le Móáb i dtreo éirí gréine.
12 Chuireadar chun bealaigh uaidh sin agus shuíodar a gcampa i nGleann Zeirid.

66 agus gach ar chuala trácht orthu, chuir siad chucu ina gcroí iad, agus deiridís: “Cad is dán don leanbh seo, mar sin?” Óir go deimhin bhí lámh an Tiarna leis.
67 Agus líonadh Zachairias a athair den Spiorad Naomh, agus rinne tairngreacht á rá:
68 “Moladh don Tiarna, Dia Iosrael,
óir rinne sé a phobal a fhiosrú agus a fhuascailt;
69 agus thóg sé dúinn Slánaitheoir neartmhar
i dteaghlach Dháiví a sheirbhíseach –
70 de réir mar a labhair
trí bhéal a naomhfháidh anallód –
71 mar shaoradh dúinn ónár naimhde
agus óna láimh siúd uile ar fuath leo sinn,
72 ag déanamh trócaire mar sin ar ár n-aithreacha,
agus ag cuimhneamh ar a thiomna naofa –

7 And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.
8 And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
9 So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.
10 And the people of Israel set out and camped in Oboth.
11 And they set out from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim, in the wilderness that is opposite Moab, toward the sunrise.
12 From there they set out and camped in the Valley of Zered.
