Bybel in Afrikaans (1983-vertaling)

Romeine 11:2

Psalm 94 (Bybel in Afrikaans (1983-vertaling))

16 Wie staan by my teen dié wat my leed aandoen? Wie help my teen mense wat my veronreg?
17 As die Here my nie gehelp het nie, was die stilte van die graf seker al my tuiste!

Romeine 11 (Bybel in Afrikaans (1983-vertaling))

English Standard Version

The Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage.

Psalm 94:14

God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew.

Romans 11:2

Psalm 94 (English Standard Version)

11 the Lord—knows the thoughts of man,
that they are but a breath.
12 Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 to give him rest from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
15 for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.
16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.

Romeine 11 (English Standard Version)

1 I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?
3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.”
4 But what is God's reply to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
5 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
