Hanna sê vir Eli:

Om hierdie seun het ek gebid, en die Here het aan my gegee wat ek van Hom afgesmeek het.

1 Samuel 1:27

Die Here het geluister na my smeking, die Here het my gebed aangeneem.

Psalm 6:10

24 Toe sy hom gespeen het, het sy hom saamgeneem, en ook 'n driejaaroud bul, sestien kilogram meel en 'n kruik wyn. Sy het hom as klein seuntjie weggebring na die huis van die Here toe in Silo.
25 Elkana-hulle het die bul geslag en die seun na Eli toe gebring,
26 en Hanna het gesê: "Ekskuus, Meneer, u sal my nie glo nie, maar, Meneer, ék is die vrou wat hier by u gestaan het om tot die Here te bid.
27 Om hierdie seun het ek gebid, en die Here het aan my gegee wat ek van Hom afgesmeek het.
28 Ja, van die Here het ek hierdie kind afgesmeek, en nou sal hy sy lewe lank iemand wees wat van die Here afgesmeek is." Toe het hulle die Here daar aanbid.

Psalm 6 (Bybel in Afrikaans (1983-vertaling))

7 Ek is uitgeput van verdriet, ek huil die hele nag deur, ek deurweek my bed met trane.
8 My oë het dof geword van verdriet, verswak deur wat my teëstanders my aandoen.
9 Gee pad van my af, julle almal wat onreg doen, want die Here het ag geslaan op my geroep om hulp,
10 die Here het geluister na my smeking, die Here het my gebed aangeneem.
11 Al my vyande sal beskaamd daarvan afkom, hulle sal verslae staan; in 'n oogwink sal hulle beskaamd moet padgee.

24 And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and she brought him to the house of the Lord at Shiloh. And the child was young.
25 Then they slaughtered the bull, and they brought the child to Eli.
26 And she said, “Oh, my lord! As you live, my lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence, praying to the Lord.
27 For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.
28 Therefore I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.”
And he worshiped the Lord there.

6 I am weary with my moaning;
every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief;
it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil,
for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my plea;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.
