An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Tá lá an Tiarna ar an tairseach ag na náisiúin go léir; mar a rinne tú leo, déanfar leat; fillfidh do bhearta ar do mhullach.

Obaidiá 15

Bíodh bhur n-iompar i measc na ngintlithe gan cháim, i dtreo, má cháineann siad anois sibh mar lucht míghníomhartha, go bhfeicfidh siad bhur ndea-oibreacha agus go molfaidh siad Dia dá gcionn ar lá an fhiosraithe.

1 Peadar 2:12

Obaidiá 1 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

12 Ach b’olc an mhaise duit gur gheal leat
cás do bhráthar lá a mhí-áidh;
go ndearna tú lúcháir faoi mhuintir Iúdá,
lá a mífhortúin,
agus maíomh lá na duainéise.
13 B’olc an mhaise duit go ndeachaigh tú geata mo phobail isteach,
lá a mhillte,
gur gheal leat a thubaiste,
lá a mhillte,
agus go ndearna tú creach ar a mhaoin,
lá a mhillte.
14 B’olc an mhaise duit gur sheas tú ag gabhal an bhóthair
lena theifigh a theanntú;
gur thug tú fuíoll an áir ar láimh,
lá a dhuainéise.”
15 Óir tá lá an Tiarna ar an tairseach ag na náisiúin go léir;
mar a rinne tú leo, déanfar leat;
fillfidh do bhearta ar do mhullach.
16 Faoi mar a d’ól tusa ar mo shliabh naofa
ólfaidh na náisiúin go léir mórthimpeall;
ólfaidh siad agus beidh na cosa ag imeacht uathu,
agus rachaidh siad ar ceal amhail is nach raibh siad riamh ann.
17 Ach ar Shliabh Shíón, fágfar fuíoll a thiocfaidh slán,
agus beidh siad naofa;
agus gheobhaidh teach Iacóib seilbh ar a shealúchas féin.
18 Beidh teach Iacóib ina thine,
agus teach Iósaef ina lasair;
agus teach Éasau ina choinleach.
Cuirfear trí thine iad, agus loiscfear iad,
agus ní fhágfar duine de theach Éasau beo.
Tá an Tiarna tar éis labhairt.”

1 Peadar 2 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

9 Ach is cine tofa sibhse, sagartacht ríoga, muintir naofa, pobal a cuireadh ar leithrigh, le go bhfógródh sibh éachtaí an té sin a ghlaoigh as an dorchadas amach oraibh chun a sholais iontaigh féin.
10 Níor phobal sibh tráth, ach anois is pobal Dé sibh; níor bhain a thrócaire libh tráth, ach anois tá bainte aici libh.
11 A chairde cléibh, impím oraibh, mar choimhthígh agus mar dheoraithe, staonadh ó ainmhianta na colainne a bhíonn ag cogaíocht leis an anam.
12 Bíodh bhur n-iompar i measc na ngintlithe gan cháim, i dtreo, má cháineann siad anois sibh mar lucht míghníomhartha, go bhfeicfidh siad bhur ndea-oibreacha agus go molfaidh siad Dia dá gcionn ar lá an fhiosraithe.
15 Mar is é toil Dé é go ndéanfaidh sibh aineolas daoine baotha a chur ina thost leis na bearta fónta a dhéanann sibh.

English Standard Version

The day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head.

Obadiah 15

Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

1 Peter 2:12

Obaidiá 1 (English Standard Version)

12 But do not gloat over the day of your brother
in the day of his misfortune;
do not rejoice over the people of Judah
in the day of their ruin;
do not boast
in the day of distress.
13 Do not enter the gate of my people
in the day of their calamity;
do not gloat over his disaster
in the day of his calamity;
do not loot his wealth
in the day of his calamity.
14 Do not stand at the crossroads
to cut off his fugitives;
do not hand over his survivors
in the day of distress.
15 For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations.
As you have done, it shall be done to you;
your deeds shall return on your own head.
16 For as you have drunk on my holy mountain,
so all the nations shall drink continually;
they shall drink and swallow,
and shall be as though they had never been.
17 But in Mount Zion there shall be those who escape,
and it shall be holy,
and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions.
18 The house of Jacob shall be a fire,
and the house of Joseph a flame,
and the house of Esau stubble;
they shall burn them and consume them,
and there shall be no survivor for the house of Esau,
for the Lord has spoken.

1 Peadar 2 (English Standard Version)

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.
12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
13 Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme,
14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
