An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Is mó is mian liom buanghrá ná íobairtí; agus aithne a bheith agaibh ar Dhia, is fearr liom é sin ná ofrálacha lándóite.

Hóisé 6:6

Má tá grá agaibh dom, coinneoidh sibh m’aitheanta.

Eoin 14:15

Hóisé 6 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

3 Bíodh aithne againn ar an Tiarna;
déanaimis ár ndícheall le haithne a chur air!
Beidh a thaibhsiú chomh cinnte le breacadh an lae;
tiocfaidh sé chugainn mar an bháisteach,
amhail fearthainn an earraigh a uiscíonn an tír.”
4 Cad a dhéanfaidh mé leat, a Eafráim?
Cad a dhéanfaidh mé leat, a Iúdá?
Ní buaine bhur ngrá ná néal maidine,
ná an drúcht a imíonn as radharc go luath.
5 Dá dheasca sin bím á scláradh trí bhíthin na bhfáithe
agus á marú le briathra mo bhéil.
Sa tslí seo foilsítear ceart mo bhréithe mar splanc solais.
6 Óir, is mó is mian liom buanghrá ná íobairtí;
agus aithne a bheith agaibh ar Dhia,
is fearr liom é sin ná ofrálacha lándóite.
7 Briseann siadsan an conradh ag Adám;
san áit sin feallann siad orm.
8 Cathair lucht míghníomha is ea Gileád,
agus tá rian na fola uirthi.
9 Amhail ropairí a dhéanann luíochán,
bíonn slua sagart ag déanamh áir ar an mbóthar go Seicim;
gan bhréag ar bith, is ainspianta a ngníomhartha!

Eoin 14 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

12 Nó murab é sin, creidigí mar gheall ar na hoibreacha féin.
Amen, Amen, a deirim libh,
an té a chreideann ionamsa,
na hoibreacha a dhéanaimse,
déanfaidh seisean iad chomh maith,
agus déanfaidh sé oibreacha is mó ná iad;
mar táimse ag dul chun an Athar.
13 Cibé ní a iarrfaidh sibh i m’ainm déanfaidh mé é,
i dtreo go dtabharfaí glóir don Athair tríd an Mac.
14 Má iarrann sibh aon ní orm i m’ainm,
déanfaidh mé é.
15 Má tá grá agaibh dom, coinneoidh sibh m’aitheanta.
16 Agus iarrfaidh mé ar m’Athair é,
agus tabharfaidh sé Abhcóide eile daoibh
chun fanacht faraibh go deo –
17 Spiorad na Fírinne,
nach féidir don saol a ghlacadh,
mar ní fheiceann sé é ná ní aithníonn sé é.
Ach aithníonn sibhse é
mar fanann sé faraibh, agus beidh sé ionaibh.
18 Ní fhágfaidh mé in bhur ndílleachtaí sibh;
tiocfaidh mé ar ais chugaibh.

The Lord says:

I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Hosea 6:6

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

John 14:15

Hóisé 6 (English Standard Version)

3 Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord;
his going out is sure as the dawn;
he will come to us as the showers,
as the spring rains that water the earth.”
4 What shall I do with you, O Ephraim?
What shall I do with you, O Judah?
Your love is like a morning cloud,
like the dew that goes early away.
5 Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets;
I have slain them by the words of my mouth,
and my judgment goes forth as the light.
6 For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice,
the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
7 But like Adam they transgressed the covenant;
there they dealt faithlessly with me.
8 Gilead is a city of evildoers,
tracked with blood.
9 As robbers lie in wait for a man,
so the priests band together;
they murder on the way to Shechem;
they commit villainy.

Eoin 14 (English Standard Version)

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
