An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Cosnaígí an daibhir agus an dílleachta; déanaigí ceart don dealbh agus don dearóil.

Salm 82:3

Má tá deartháir nó deirfiúr gan éadach agus gan cuid an lae de bhia acu, agus go ndeir duine agaibhse leo: “Imígí faoi shíocháin; faighigí goradh agus ithigí bhur sáith,” agus nach dtugann sibh riachtanais na beatha dóibh, cén tairbhe é?

Séamas 2:15-16

Salm 82 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 Salm Ásáf.
Éiríonn Dia sa chomhthionól diaga
a thabhairt breithiúnais i lár na ndéithe.
2 “Cá fhad a thabharfaidh sibh breith go héagórach;
agus lé agaibh le cúis na n-éagráifeach? Selah
3 Cosnaígí an daibhir agus an dílleachta;
déanaigí ceart don dealbh agus don dearóil.
4 Fuasclaígí a bhfuil faoi ansmacht agus ainnise;
sabhálaigí ó láimh na n-éagráifeach iad.”
5 Bíonn siad ag útamáil gan tuiscint sa dorchacht;
agus fothaí na talún á mbogadh.
6 Is é rud a dúirt mé: “Is déithe sibh;
clann an Té is Airde sibh uile.

Séamas 2 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

12 Labhraígí agus déanaigí beart dála daoine atá le dul faoi bhreith dhlí na saoirse.
13 Óir tá breithiúnas gan trócaire le tabhairt ar an té nach ndearna trócaire; ach sáraíonn an trócaire an breithiúnas.
14 Cén tairbhe é, a bhráithre liom, má deir duine go bhfuil creideamh aige, ach é gan dea-oibreacha? An féidir don chreideamh é a shábháil?
15 Má tá deartháir nó deirfiúr gan éadach agus gan cuid an lae de bhia acu,
16 agus go ndeir duine agaibhse leo: “Imígí faoi shíocháin; faighigí goradh agus ithigí bhur sáith,” agus nach dtugann sibh riachtanais na beatha dóibh, cén tairbhe é?
17 Sé a fhearacht sin ag an gcreideamh é. Tá sé marbh leis féin gan dea-oibreacha.
18 Ach déarfaidh duine éigin: “Tá creideamh agatsa agus tá dea-oibreacha agamsa.” Taispeáin dom do chreideamh in éagmais do dhea-oibreacha, agus taispeánfaidh mise mo chreideamh duitse trí mo dhea-oibreacha.
19 Creideann tú gurb aon é Dia, agus is maith mar a dhéanann tú; ach creideann na deamhain chomh maith, agus bíonn siad ar crith.

Give justice to the weak and the fatherless.

Psalm 82:3

If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?

James 2:15-16

Salm 82 (English Standard Version)

1 God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
2 “How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked?
3 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
5 They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
they walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 I said, “You are gods,
sons of the Most High, all of you;

Séamas 2 (English Standard Version)

12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.
13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?
17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
