An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Tá slí Dé gan mháchail, tá briathar an Tiarna arna phromhadh. Is é is sciath go dearfa do chách a thriallann chuige.

Salm 18:31

Gabhaigí chugaibh i gcónaí an creideamh mar sciath lena bhféadfaidh sibh gach diúracán dearg de chuid an namhad mhallaithe a mhúchadh. Glacaigí an slánú mar chlogad agus briathar Dé mar chlaíomh ón Spiorad.

Eifisigh 6:16-17

Salm 18 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

28 Óir saorfaidh tú lucht na huirísle
ach umhlóidh tú lucht an díomais.
29 Is tusa, a Thiarna, mo lóchrann,
mo Dhia thú, a shoilsíonn mo dhorchacht.
30 Is tríotsa a bhearnaím na sluaite;
le cabhair Dé a ghabhaim de léim thar balla.
31 Tá slí Dé gan mháchail,
tá briathar an Tiarna arna phromhadh.
Is é is sciath go dearfa
do chách a thriallann chuige.
32 Óir cé eile is Dia ann ach an Tiarna?
Cé eile is carraig ann seachas ár nDia?
33 An Dia a chrioslaigh mé le calmacht
agus a rinne mo bhealach sábháilte;
34 a thug luas na heilite do mo chosa
agus a chuir i mo sheasamh go daingean ar na harda mé.

Eifisigh 6 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

13 Gabhaigí cathéide Dé chugaibh, dá bhrí sin, i dtreo nuair a thiocfaidh lá an oilc, go bhféadfaidh sibh an fód a sheasamh, agus go mbeidh sibh fós in bhur seasamh tar éis daoibh an cath a bhaint ar an iomlán.
14 Seasaigí go daingean, dá bhrí sin, agus an fhírinne fáiscthe faoi bhur gcoim agaibh mar chrios, an fhíréantacht mar lúireach ar bhur n-ucht
15 agus fonn leata dea-scéal na síochána mar bhróga ar bhur gcosa agaibh.
16 Gabhaigí chugaibh i gcónaí an creideamh mar sciath lena bhféadfaidh sibh gach diúracán dearg de chuid an namhad mhallaithe a mhúchadh.
17 Glacaigí an slánú mar chlogad agus briathar Dé mar chlaíomh ón Spiorad.
18 Agus bígí ag guí le hurnaí agus le himpí gach uair faoi luí an Spioraid. Fanaigí in bhur ndúiseacht chuige sin ag guí go buanseasmhach ar na naoimh uile.
19 Agus guígí ormsa chomh maith, le hionchas, nuair a osclóidh mé mo bhéal, go dtabharfar dom labhairt go dána agus rún an dea-scéil a fhógairt –
20 an dea-scéal a bhfuilimse i mo thoscaire air agus mé faoi ghlas féin; guígí go ndéanfaidh mé é a fhógairt chomh dána agus is cóir.

English Standard Version

The Lord is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Psalm 18:30

Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:16-17

Salm 18 (English Standard Version)

27 For you save a humble people,
but the haughty eyes you bring down.
28 For it is you who light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
29 For by you I can run against a troop,
and by my God I can leap over a wall.
30 This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God, but the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?—
32 the God who equipped me with strength
and made my way blameless.
33 He made my feet like the feet of a deer
and set me secure on the heights.

Eifisigh 6 (English Standard Version)

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
