An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Tugann foilsiú do bhriathair solas dom, agus teagasc do lucht aineolais.

Salm 119:130

Sibhse mar an gcéanna, bíodh bhur solas ag taitneamh os comhair daoine chun go bhfeicfidís bhur ndeaghníomhartha agus go nglóireoidís bhur nAthair atá ar neamh.

Matha 5:16

Salm 119 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

127 Ar an ábhar sin is ansa liom d’aitheanta,
ná an t-ór is mine.
128 Is uime a chloígh mé le do phroiceapta uile,
toisc gur fuath liom gach bréagshlí.
129 Is iontach iad go dearfa do fhorálacha;
is uime sin a choimeádaim iad.
130 Tugann foilsiú do bhriathair solas dom,
agus teagasc do lucht aineolais.
131 Bíonn mo bhéal ar leathadh ag osnaíl dom
agus mé ag tnúth le d’aitheanta.
132 Iompaigh chugam agus taispeáin dom do thrua,
mar a dhéanann tú do do chairde.
133 Dírigh mo chéimeanna de réir do bhriathair;
ná gabhadh an urchóid forlámhas orm.

Matha 5 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

13 “Is sibhse salann na talún. Ach má éiríonn an salann leamh, cad a dhéanfaidh goirt arís é? Níl tairbhe ann feasta chun rud ar bith, ach é a chaitheamh amach mar a ngabhfar de chosa ann.
14 Is sibhse solas an domhain. Cathair ar mhullach cnoic ní féidir í a cheilt.
15 Ná ní lastar lampa chun é a chur faoi bhéal na peice, ach in airde ar an gcrann solais mar a dtugann sé solas dá mbíonn sa teach.
16 Sibhse mar an gcéanna, bíodh bhur solas ag taitneamh os comhair daoine chun go bhfeicfidís bhur ndeaghníomhartha agus go nglóireoidís bhur nAthair atá ar neamh.
17 “Ná bígí ag ceapadh gur chun an dlí agus na fáithe a chur ar ceal a tháinig mé. Ní á gcur ar ceal a tháinig mé ach á gcur i gcrích.
18 Óir deirim libh go fírinneach, is túisce a imeoidh neamh agus talamh ná mar a imeoidh aon litir ná aon ghiota den dlí gan gach aon ní a bheith tagtha i gcrích.
19 Dá bhrí sin, an té a chuirfidh aon aithne ar ceal den chuid is lú de na haitheanta seo, agus a mhúinfidh do dhaoine eile an rud céanna a dhéanamh, measfar é sin ar an té is lú i ríocht na bhflaitheas. Ach an té a choimeádfaidh iad agus a mhúinfidh, measfar eisean ina dhuine mór i ríocht na bhflaitheas.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

Psalm 119:130

About a lamp on a stand:

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Salm 119 (English Standard Version)

127 Therefore I love your commandments
above gold, above fine gold.
128 Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right;
I hate every false way.
129 Your testimonies are wonderful;
therefore my soul keeps them.
130 The unfolding of your words gives light;
it imparts understanding to the simple.
131 I open my mouth and pant,
because I long for your commandments.
132 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
as is your way with those who love your name.
133 Keep steady my steps according to your promise,
and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

Matha 5 (English Standard Version)

13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
