1 Ríthe 17 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

13 Ach dúirt Éilias léi: “Ná bíodh eagla ort, imigh agus déan mar a dúirt tú, ach déan toirtín beag domsa as i dtús ama, agus tabhair chugam é, agus ina dhiaidh sin déan tuilleadh duit féin agus do do mhac.
14 Óir is mar seo a labhraíonn an Tiarna, Dia Iosrael:
‘Ní bheidh an próca mine ídithe,
ní bheidh an crúiscín ola folamh,
nó go dtiocfaidh an lá a chuirfidh an Tiarna
fearthainn ar aghaidh na talún.’”
15 D’imigh sí agus rinne mar a dúirt Éilias léi agus d’ith siad an bia, ise, eisean agus [a mac] ar feadh a lán laethanta.
16 Ní raibh an próca mine ídithe na an crúiscín ola folamh, díreach mar a dúirt an Tiarna roimh re trí bhéal Éilias.
17 Tamall ina dhiaidh sin bhuail taom tinnis mac na mná, bean an tí; bhí sé chomh breoite sin nár fhan an dé ann.
18 Dúirt an bhean le hÉilias: “Cad é atá agat i m’éadan, a ghiolla Dé? An le mo pheacaí a chur ina luí orm agus le mo mhac a chur á mharú a tháinig tú anseo?”
19 “Tabhair dom do mhac,” ar seisean. Thóg sé as a baclainn é, d’iompair chun an tseomra uachtaraigh é, an áit a raibh cónaí air féin, agus d’fhág sé ina luí ar a leaba féin é.

Marcas 8 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

15 Agus thug sé foláireamh dóibh a rá: “Bígí aireach agus seachnaígí sibh féin ar ghabháil na bhFairisíneach agus ar ghabháil Héaróid.”
16 Agus bhí siadsan ag plé an scéil le chéile: nach raibh aon arán acu.
17 Bhí a fhios ag Íosa agus dúirt sé leo: “Cén fáth a bhfuil sibh ag plé an scéil gan arán a bheith agaibh? Nach bhfuil tuiscint agaibh fós nó meabhair? An bhfuil bhur gcroí dúr?
18 Cé go bhfuil súile agaibh, an ea nach bhfeiceann sibh, agus cé go bhfuil cluasa agaibh an ea nach gcluineann sibh?
22 Tháinig siad go dtí Béatsáide, agus bhí daoine a thug fear dall chuige agus rinne siad achainí air baint leis.

Mark 8:18-19

1 Ríthe 17 (English Standard Version)

13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.
14 For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth.’”
15 And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.
16 The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.
17 After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
18 And she said to Elijah, “What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!”
19 And he said to her, “Give me your son.” And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed.

Marcas 8 (English Standard Version)

15 And he cautioned them, saying,
“Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”
16 And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread.
17 And Jesus, aware of this, said to them,
“Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened?
18 Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?
19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?”
They said to him, “Twelve.”
20 “And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?”
And they said to him, “Seven.”
21 And he said to them,
“Do you not yet understand?”
22 And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.
