An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Bím ag faire i gcaitheamh na hoíche, ag déanamh mo mharana ar do bhriathar.

Salm 119:148

Cé mar a dhiúltaigh siad do bhriathar an Tiarna! Cén tairbhe dóibh mar sin a gcríonnacht?

Irimia 8:9

Salm 119 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

145 Glaoim ó chroí ort; éist liom, a Thiarna;
coimeádfaidh mé do reachtanna.
146 Glaoim ort; déan mé a tharrtháil;
agus coinneoidh mé d’fhorálacha.
147 I moiche na maidine bím ag glaoch ort;
cuirim mo dhóchas i do bhriathar.
148 Bím ag faire i gcaitheamh na hoíche,
ag déanamh mo mharana ar do bhriathar.
149 Éist liom, a Thiarna, de réir do bhuanghrá;
beoigh mé de réir d’aithne.
150 Tá lucht mo ghéarleanúna ag druidim liom,
agus iad i bhfad ó do dhlí.
151 Ach tá tusa i ngar dom, a Thiarna;
agus is dílis iad d’aitheanta.

Irimia 8 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

6 D’éist mise go haireach,
níl an chaint cheart acu;
ní dhearna aon duine aithrí ina olc
á rá: ‘Céard tá déanta agam?’
Mar a réabann an t-each chun catha
is mar sin a théann gach aon duine amú ag leanacht a chúrsa féin.
7 Fiú amháin an chorr bhán sa spéir
bíonn fios a haimsire aici;
comhairíonn an turtúr, an fháinleog, an chorr ghlas,
am a dteachta.
Ach ní fheadar mo dhaoine rialú an Tiarna.
8 Nach dána an mhaise daoibh a rá: ‘Táimid críonna,
agus is againn atá dlí an Tiarna’?
Féach, cé mar a falsaíodh é
le peann bréagach na scríobhaithe.
9 Beidh náire ar na daoine críonna,
beidh mearbhail orthu agus díomá.
Féach, cé mar a dhiúltaigh siad do bhriathar an Tiarna!
Cén tairbhe dóibh mar sin a gcríonnacht?
10 Tabharfaidh mé mar sin a mná céile do fhir eile,
a bhfearainn do shealbhóirí nua,
óir gach aon díobh ón té is lú go dtí an té is mó,
santaíonn sé an brabach mí-ionraic;
an sagart agus an fáidh araon,
cleachtaíonn siad caimiléireacht.
11 Is gan mhairg a chóiríonn siad créacht mo phobail
á rá: ‘Síocháin! Siocháin!’
agus níl aon síocháin ann.
12 Náire ba chóir a bheith orthu
mar gheall ar a n-imeachtaí gránna.
Beag an baol! Níl ciall do náire acu,
ní mó is féidir leo lasadh.
Ar an ábhar sin, mar a thiteann daoine eile,
titfidh siadsan freisin;
teilgfear anuas iad nuair a thiocfaidh mise ar cuairt acu,
a deir an Tiarna.

English Standard Version

My eyes are awake before the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promise.

Psalm 119:148

The wise men have rejected the word of the Lord, so what wisdom is in them?

Jeremiah 8:9

Salm 119 (English Standard Version)

145 With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O Lord!
I will keep your statutes.
146 I call to you; save me,
that I may observe your testimonies.
147 I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I hope in your words.
148 My eyes are awake before the watches of the night,
that I may meditate on your promise.
149 Hear my voice according to your steadfast love;
O Lord, according to your justice give me life.
150 They draw near who persecute me with evil purpose;
they are far from your law.
151 But you are near, O Lord,
and all your commandments are true.

Irimia 8 (English Standard Version)

6 I have paid attention and listened,
but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
like a horse plunging headlong into battle.
7 Even the stork in the heavens
knows her times,
and the turtledove, swallow, and crane
keep the time of their coming,
but my people know not
the rules of the Lord.
8 “How can you say, ‘We are wise,
and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
9 The wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed and taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?
10 Therefore I will give their wives to others
and their fields to conquerors,
because from the least to the greatest
everyone is greedy for unjust gain;
from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
11 They have healed the wound of my people lightly,
saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.
12 Were they ashamed when they committed abomination?
No, they were not at all ashamed;
they did not know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among the fallen;
when I punish them, they shall be overthrown,
says the Lord.
